There is one less case on the mayor's list of the Ministry of Internal Affairs

The acquittal of the head of the Moscow Registration Chamber (MRC), Igor Alexandrov, ended yesterday in a high-profile trial of the leaders of this organization. The court considered the charges of taking bribes, fraud and embezzlement, incriminated against the official by the Investigative Committee (IC) under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, unproven. Deputy head of the MCI Alexander Sevostyanov received five years, and even those were suspended. The press secretary of the Moscow mayor, Sergei Tsoi, immediately after this said that the capital authorities were satisfied with the decision of the Moscow City Court. In his opinion, the investigation was biased, and “the charges against Alexandrov fell apart” just like many other cases “instituted against the Moscow leadership” for political reasons.

The MCI case was included in the scandalous list of 30 investigations conducted by the Investigative Committee against structures close to the capital’s mayor’s office. According to investigators, the head of K-9 CJSC Andrei Dmitriev allegedly periodically paid bribes to the heads of the registration chamber, and in return they favored his company. In particular, they allowed her to carry out exclusive work on studying the similarity of the names of commercial structures in Moscow. (When a company is registered, there should not be another with the same name). Aleksandrov and Sevostyanov were also accused of receiving money from K-9 for renting out several semi-basement premises to the company. In addition, according to investigators, Mr. Alexandrov used MCI money to make too expensive gifts to Deputy Prime Minister of the Moscow Government Oleg Tolkachev.

During the trial, it turned out that most of the accusations were based on the testimony of Mr. Dmitriev, who, when transferring bribes to Sevostyanov, thought that he was sharing with his boss. True, at first, during interrogations, the deputy head of the MCI claimed that he regularly brought part of the money to Mr. Alexandrov, but later he retracted his words. As a result, the court immediately rejected the accusations that Mr. Alexandrov received bribes. Then the servants of Themis also did not agree with the fact that the head of the MRP wasted money on a gift to Tolkachev, since he reimbursed the entire amount. As a result, Mr. Alexandrov was completely acquitted. Sevostyanov was found guilty of fraud, since he, receiving money from Dmitriev, simply deceived the latter.
