Yesterday, the AK&M agency reported that the representative of the Voronezh region in the Federation Council will be the president of the Alfa-Eco company, Gleb Fetisov. The company does not hide its good connections with the Voronezh governor: this is evidenced by the fact that the entrepreneur had no competitors - the regional legislative assembly elected him on a non-alternative basis.
The most striking business project of Mr. Fetisov was an attempt to “beat off” the supplier of raw materials from the Krasnoyarsk Aluminum Plant (KrAZ) - the Achinsk Alumina Refinery (AGC). In 1996, following a claim from creditors, bankruptcy proceedings for the plant were initiated, and the court appointed Gleb Fetisov as manager. He held this post for almost five years. He was removed, but he returned. The country learned about the president of Alfa-Eco from television reports when, on September 12, 1999, his team, with the support of the police, forcibly occupied the AGK. However, if Alfa was able to take away alumina from Anatoly Bykov and Trans World Group, which previously owned KrAZ, then its new owner, Russian Aluminum, had to return the supplier of raw materials. In March of this year, AGK's creditors signed a settlement agreement, after which external management was terminated. The last time Mr. Fetisov's name appeared in the press was in May, when he was nominated to the board of directors of VimpelCom (operator of the Bee Line cellular network). Having become a senator, Mr. Fetisov will be forced to leave the post of president of Alfa-Eco. But only formally: a company representative told a Kommersant correspondent that his election as a senator from the Voronezh region means that the group will “actively develop this promising region.” Its first bridgehead will appear literally any day now - a branch of Alfa Bank will open in Voronezh.
