Workers at the Novosibirsk station had to face an unusual technical problem on Wednesday night. One of the empty trains standing on the tracks unexpectedly set off without a driver. The electric train moved off on its own when the driver and his assistant moved along the train to the cabin of the last car to send the train to the depot. The trackmen noticed the uncontrolled “escape” of the train from the station and managed to move the switches so that the train came to a dead end. While moving, four carriages derailed and damaged the railway bridge guard's booth. The security guard, noticing that the train was heading towards him, jumped off the bridge, breaking his leg in the process. Fortunately, he was the only one injured in the runaway train incident - the train reached the end of the dead end, hit the fence and stopped. At the scene of the incident, transport police officers immediately began work to find out why the train started moving on its own.
