
In the Antarctica, in the area of the Belingshausen Russian station, a temple will be built according to the project of Altai architects, RIA Novosti reports.
At the place of construction of the temple, the flag of the Altai Territory will be hoisted. On Monday, the head of the regional administration, Alexander Surikov, handed the flag to the chairman of the Altai Union of architects Peter Anisiforov, in the creative workshop of which the project of this temple was developed.
According to sources in the press service of the regional administration, competitive selection of projects was held by the Temple in Antarctica Foundation. The temple project from the Siberian cedar and larch of the Altai architect Svetlana Rybak won. It was he who received the approval of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexy II .
The press service also reported that on the next Saturday, Peter Anisiforov goes to Antarctica to look at the site for the construction of the temple, to study the natural climatic conditions and the state of the soil.
According to Peter Anisiforov himself, the idea of creating such a temple belongs to Russian polar explorers. Thus, they want to perpetuate the memory of compatriots who died over 50 years of mastering Antarctica.
