The captain of the national team of Latvia Bobsleist Sandis Prutsis will still be able to take part in the Olympic Games in Salt Lake City, despite accusations of doping. The International Bobsleya Federation (FIBT) has issued its verdict on the fact of the athlete of prohibited drugs, disqualifying it for three months from the date of doping tests (November 9). Thus, the disqualification period expires on February 9 - on the second day after the start of the Olympics. And the competitions of bobsleist will begin only on February 16.
The Latvians protested the first solution of FIBT, according to which Prucis was excommunicated for two years. According to their version, the bobsleist took food supplements, not knowing that they were a prohibited drug. According to FIBT General Ermanno Gardello, the Federation took into account this, softening the original sentence.
Recall that last year at the World Cup, the crew of 37-year-old Prusis among the fartial beans took fourth place. In Latvia, they hope that in Salt Lake City the four led by him will be able to win one of the medals.
