About 37% of the territory of Moscow is in a flooded state today, the director of the Mosvodokanal-Project of Yevgeny Pupyrev said at a press conference on Friday, Interfax reports.
According to him, an increase in the volume of groundwater in the city is 2-3 times higher than a similar natural process beyond.
Pupyrev noted that today in the capital 36 areas of constant flooding with intense atmospheric sediments are registered. In particular, this is the territory of the Enthusiasts highway, the area of the 16th Park Street and others.
In addition, a number of destruction of the foundations of buildings in the city are directly associated with violations of the groundwater regime. This applies, for example, the Vorontsov Palace, as well as the sear of the territory of the Vorontsovsky park, which leads to the death of trees.
According to Pupyrev, the main reason for such a situation is leakage from water -bearing communications. In particular, according to him, the nutrition of groundwater in Moscow is only 30% determined by atmospheric precipitation, the remaining 70% is leaks from water -suffering communications, the total length of which is more than 20 thousand kilometers.
In addition, the imprisonment of natural gutters in collectors also has to imprison the level of groundwater. "Of the 150 rivers and streams of Moscow, about 50 were closed in pipes," the director of the institute said.
According to him, this leads to the fact that groundwater is diverted with less intensity. Over the past 30 years, the total length of the closed channels reached 265 kilometers with a total length of drains in the city of 260 kilometers.
At the same time, Pupyrev said that the damage from such floods is annually estimated at 600 million rubles, and the necessary program to clean the capital requires about 90 million rubles.
As the director of the institute noted, if you do not take the necessary measures in the near future, then after 20 years in the capital all the basements will be completely flooded.
