February in the cycle "The Declassified Age" REN TV channel will show a new documentary by Oksana Barkovskaya "Henri and Anita". A film on the theme of ... the feature film "Tehran-43" - a reverent love story of a Soviet intelligence officer and a Russian translator against the backdrop of the famous Tehran meeting of Stalin, Churchill and Roosevelt in 1943. But it turns out that not everything that went into the plot of the film is fiction.
The Nazis really planned an assassination attempt on the heads of the leading countries of the anti-Hitler coalition, which could change the course and results of World War II, the fate of entire nations. And there were people, wonderful Soviet intelligence officers, who exposed the preparation of this sabotage. There was real love, and even with a happier ending than in the film.
Gevorg and Gohar Vartanyan, immigrants from Soviet Armenia who lived in Tehran, loved each other since childhood. And at the very beginning of their love, Gohar did not even suspect that fifteen-year-old Gevork was recruited by the Soviet resident in Iran, Ivan Agayants. He created from six of his friends, the same teenagers, a whole reconnaissance group "Light Cavalry", which worked disinterestedly for our country, for ideological reasons.
Identified by young scouts, local fans of the brown plague were found and arrested without any problems.
Nevertheless, Hitler did not leave mystical hopes for Iran. It was in Tehran in the fall of 1943 that a meeting of the heads of the "Big Three" - the leading countries of the anti-fascist coalition - was to take place. Churchill, Roosevelt and Stalin had to agree on a date for the opening of a second front in Europe, and this would mean a final turning point in the course of the war, would bring closer the agony and death of fascism. The Fuhrer has a fantastic idea in his head - to send saboteurs to Tehran under the leadership of his right hand Otto Skorzeny, for whom there were no impossible tasks. The saboteurs were to carry out an assassination attempt on the leaders of the allied powers, which could change the very course of the war.
But Gevork and Gohar, who joined the hard work, did the unthinkable - they recruited almost the entire Skorzeny group. The attempt failed...
However, young Gevork and Gohar still had a whole life ahead of them. And she was all given to intelligence. Only in the mid-1950s did they see Moscow for the first time. The "Center" allowed them to live together, but forbade them to have children, to speak their native language even at home and in the absence of strangers. According to legend, they had to marry three times in their lives according to different documents, play the serious roles of businessmen, for whom the presidents of the largest European powers considered it a great honor to provide a personal plane. And only in the late 80s a couple of intelligence officers finally returned to Russia. But the life devoted to intelligence did not end even today, when Gevork and Gohar are deep in their seventies. Not all of their exploits have been declassified, not everything can be told about ... Although the secret of their names - Anri and Anita - will be revealed to REN TV viewers.
