According to local newspapers, the body of a 38-year-old man lay in his room in the center of Saigon. The hotel manager, whose name is not called, said that he had discovered a corpse at about six in the evening on Thursday.
“He rented a number at seven in the morning, and no one has seen him since then. I decided to check if he was all right. When I opened the door, he was already dead,” the police officer said.
The official representative of the authorities said that a used syringe and two bags of white powder, similar to heroin, were discovered near the corpse.
The Consul General of the USA in Hoshchein confirmed that the tourist was found dead, but refused to give any comments. The police notes that it is very easy to purchase drugs in the cities of Vietnam.
