The Plenum of the Central Committee of the Communist Party recommended Seleznev to leave the post of State Duma speaker

The Plenum of the Central Committee of the Communist Party recommended Gennady Seleznev to leave the post of chairman of the State Duma. This was announced to reporters by one of the participants in the meeting, emphasizing that in this way the Plenum participants confirmed their previous decision, adopted on April 3, Interfax reports.

The Plenum participants voted for this decision with 74 votes, against √ 15.

As previously said by a member of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Communist Party, Alexander Frolov, Seleznev said at the Plenum that it would be useful for the party if he retains the post of speaker. At the same time, he emphasized that he would obey any decision of the Plenum.

Gennady Zyuganov, in turn, opposed the separation of the posts of the leader of the Communist Party and the Communist Party of the Communist Party in the State Duma.

It was not previously excluded that Seleznev, in the event of a departure from the post of chairman of the State Duma, could lead the Duma faction of the Communist Party, and Zyuganov will retain leadership in the party.

At today's Plenum, two options for the further development of events were considered: either Seleznev will retain the post of speaker, or he will become the head of the Communists faction in the State Duma.
