Luzhkov is going to divide Moscow into apiaries

Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov agreed with the Russian Union of beekeepers on the creation of apiaries in the forests of the capital, in particular in Losin Island and Izmailov.

He announced this on Friday at a meeting of the board of the Department of Nature Management and Environmental Protection of the Government of the city and the Ecological Council under the mayor, Interfax reports.

According to Luzhkov, the apiaries will be created "not for the production of honey, but with the aim of healing the environment." “The bee has a very favorable effect on nature,” the mayor emphasized.

Luzhkov himself has long been fond of beekeeping and has his own apiaries. He even applied for a patent of the hive of his own structure .
