A state of emergency was introduced in Paraguay

The Paraguay government announced the introduction of a state of emergency throughout the country for a period of five days. This happened after the mass manifestations that were held in the main cities of the country, whose participants demanded the resignation of President Luis Gonzalez Macca.

In many cities of the country, roads are blocked; Rioters enter into clashes with the police. Two people have already died and about 15 were injured.

In the city of Siudad del Esta, during such clashes, four people were injured, including an 11-year-old boy, the Air Force reports.

The Paraguay government claims that the organization of riots is the work of supporters of the leader of the recent unsuccessful coup, General Lino Ovedo, who is now in Brazil. According to analysts, Paraguay's economic difficulties add oil into the fire.

“We believe that five days are enough to restore calm,” said the Minister of the Interior Victor Ermos.

Within two days, Congress Paraguay must ratify the decision on the transfer of the country to a state of emergency. It provides for the vesting with great rights of government representatives and security services. And at the same time, constitutional guarantees are canceled during the state of emergency.
