The Museum "Peterhof" will take place of Samson's holiday

On Saturday, in the Peterhof Museum-Reserve, in a suburb of St. Petersburg, a Samson holiday will be held at the Greater Petrodvorets cascade, RIA Novosti reports.

Samson's holiday has been held in the last weekend summer for several years in a row and is another step towards the revival of the holiday traditions of St. Petersburg.

Samson's holiday will begin in the morning at the famous large cascade, more than two hundred fountains of which are connected by the Terrace, the lower and upper parks, from the solemn ceremony of launching fountains and fireworks. On this day, theatrical performances, entertainment and concert programs will be held throughout the park. The holiday is dedicated to one of the pearls of the Russian Versailles - the fountain of the Great Cascade "Samson, tearing the mouth of a lion."

The sculptural group "Samson" was cast according to the model of Karl Rastrelli to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the victory of the Russian army over the Swedish invaders near Poltava. During the Great Patriotic War, Peterhof was occupied by German troops, and Samson disappeared without a trace. By the fall of 1947, the sculpture was restored according to pre -war documents. And now, at the end of summer, Peterhof celebrates the revival of a unique monument.
