Right parties held a protest rally against the return of the monument to Dzerzhinsky

On Friday night, a promotion was held against the Lyubovetsky Square at Solovetsky Square against the return of the Cheka to Feliksu Dzerzhinsky. It was attended by more than 300 people, representatives of the ATP, Yabloko, Liberal Russia and a number of other democratic organizations.

The audience held the flags of their parties and the flags of Russia, as well as posters: "Dzerzhinsky - shame of Russia", "Today Iron Felix - Tomorrow of the Lubyanka."

The leader of the ATP Boris Nemtsov said that today in the State Duma against the return of the monument to Felix Dzerzhinsky, in addition to the ATP, only the Yabloko and Unity factions opposed.

Earlier on Friday, the State Duma rejected the project initiated by the ATP “On the initiative to restore the monument to Dzerzhinsky on Lubyanskaya Square in the city of Moscow”. With the 226 votes necessary for making a decision, 145 were made in support of this project, 91 - against.

Representatives of the ATP considered it necessary to say that "the restoration of the monument to Dzerzhinsky on Lubyanskaya Square is the desecration of the memory of millions of innocently repressed citizens of our country and another sign of Russia's possible return to the era of authoritarianism and unpunished omnipotence of special services."

"But this is not a reason to give up. We must do everything so that the monument to the terrorist is not returned. To return it to split society. We should not allow this," said Boris Nemtsov.

After the leader of the ATP, the audience, someone, made up near Dzerzhinsky, expressed gratitude to the mayor of Moscow Yuri Luzhkov for the fact that he wanted to return him back.

The rally lasted about an hour, the representatives of Yabloko, Liberal Russia and other democratic organizations proposed erecting a monument to the victims of political repression on Lubyanskaya Square.

The rally guarded no more than a dozen police officers.
