Rumors of an assassination attempt on the Russian President were greatly exaggerated
Vladimir Putin on Tuesday was forced to return after a working day to his country residence by a roundabout route. The Rublevo-Uspenskoye Highway, along which the president’s motorcade usually follows, was blocked by vigilant officers of the Federal Security Service (FSO), who suspected traces of alleged terrorists on the highway.
As we managed to find out, the alarm signal was received by the FSO at 21.16 during a duty check of the road and all its surroundings along the route of the presidential motorcade. In the area of the third kilometer of the highway near the railway crossing, investigators checking the side of the road noticed that three boxes had come from somewhere in the drainpipe running under the road. Fearing that they might contain explosives, FSO officers decided not to take risks and not check the contents of the boxes themselves, but reported the discovery to the authorities. As a result, at 21.30, traffic along the entire section of the Rublevo-Uspenskoe Highway from the Moscow Ring Road almost to the village of Razdory was blocked, and an FSB explosives team with a dog trained to search for explosives was called from Moscow. Having examined the boxes, experts quickly found out that they were completely empty and did not pose any danger, after which they were removed from the pipe and simply sent to the trash heap. Nevertheless, this operation took a total of about four hours, and traffic on the highway opened only at two o’clock in the morning.
It is worth noting that the inhabitants of houses and dachas along Rublevskoye Highway reacted calmly to the emergency. According to them, the special services regularly carry out such events when any “unidentified” objects are discovered along the road. At the same time, representatives of the FSO itself noted yesterday that there was indeed a signal about the discovery of explosives, but it was not confirmed, and the exact route the president took home is a state secret and therefore is not discussed.
