On Monday, the NEC electronic giant, the second largest manufacturer of semiconductor products in Japan, announced that Akinobu Kanasugi will become his new president. According to experts, the appointment of the head of the Software unit of the Kanasugi company indicates that the NEC strategy will focus on this, and semiconductor enterprises will be reduced further.
The canasuks will become the successor to the 64-year-old Koji Nisigaki, who will retire from the next March after being in this post for four years. Nisigaki, who explains his resignation with deteriorated health, will take the post of deputy chairman of the board of directors of the company, notes K2kapital.
His resignation takes place against the backdrop of a worsening position of the company, which, according to the results of the last financial year, received record losses of $ 2.6 billion. According to the results of the current financial year, which ended in March, the NEC plans to make a profit - which will be made to a large extent that the successes of the unit of software services will be facilitated.
Kanasugi, who came to the company in July 1967, said that he was surprised by the choice of his candidate for the president of the company, promising to continue his forerunner. He noted that one of his main tasks as president of the NEC will be the search for ways to unite computers' production and telecommunication equipment. In the quarter, which ended on September 30, the revenue of these units amounted to 70% of the total revenue of the company.
