In Dagestan, during a search in the house of a young man detained for resisting police officers, an arsenal of weapons and ammunition was found. According to RIA Novosti, a 25-year-old resident of Khasavyurt kept in his house a Kalashnikov assault rifle with 6 magazines, a home-made grenade launcher, 2 hand grenades, 5 VOG-17 shells, about 400 cartridges of various calibers and military uniforms.

According to the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation for the Southern Federal District, the young man was wanted. On January 11, 2003, in Khasavyurt, police officers tried to stop for inspection a Yava motorcycle, on which two local residents were riding. The passenger of the motorcycle opened fire on the policemen with a pistol. The policemen returned fire and killed the shooter. The motorcycle driver (just this young man) fled, but a few days later he was detained.
