| One of the teachers of the Krasnoyarsk Siberian Aerospace University (SAU) was recently detained for accepting a bribe. The dishonest associate professor was “handed over” to the detectives by his own colleagues. According to SAU Vice-Rector for Personnel Security Pavel Shurygin, as soon as the university management learned that Candidate of Technical Sciences Remizov was going to offer students to pay 600 rubles to take an exam in theoretical mechanics, they immediately notified the police. The teacher was detained immediately after the exam. During the search, marked banknotes were confiscated from him. Investigators are confident that the prosecution already has enough evidence to take the case to court. For now, Mr. Remizov has been released on his own recognizance. Krasnoyarsk students claim that they have been paying money for passing exams and tests for a long time. Some universities even have a fixed fee - depending on the subject, it ranges from 200 to 2.5 thousand rubles. According to the chairman of the Council of Rectors of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, Eduard Buk, the system of extortions arose due to low wages in higher education. Now young teachers receive an average of 1,100 rubles, and professors 4.5-5 thousand. Alexander KLIMOVICH, Krasnoyarsk
