In the coastal region of the Sea of Azov, in the vicinity of the city of Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Krasnodar Territory, an operation was completed to rescue 53 fishermen from a detached ice floe.
As Oleg Grekov, a representative of the command of the Southern Regional Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, told Interfax, on Tuesday evening the ice floe on which the fishermen were was torn off and began to be carried away to the open sea. As a result of a three-hour rescue operation, carried out 200 meters from the coastline, all 53 fishermen were evacuated and sent home.
The source of the agency noted that the fishermen were rescued with the help of special inflatable boats by 10 rescuers, as well as workers of the fishing farms located in the Primorsko-Akhtarsk region.
At the same time, according to Vladimir Chizhik, the operational duty officer of the Main Civil Defense and Emergency Situations of the Krasnodar Territory, from Wednesday morning, the bay where the fishermen were located will again be examined by helicopter.
