Kamchatka is cut off from the mainland

Due to the cyclone, air communication between Kamchatka and the mainland was disrupted, RIA Novosti reports. According to the dispatcher of the Yelizovo airport, due to weather conditions, registration for all flights from Kamchatka has been postponed for several hours.

Aircraft that have already flown to the peninsula have been sent to alternate airfields, where they will wait out the bad weather. At present, the central part of the cyclone is located off the coast near Ust-Bolsheretsk. In the most densely populated cities of Petropavlovsk, Elizovo, Vilyuchinsk, significant precipitation remains, wind gusts up to 20 meters per second. The roads are icy. A storm warning is in effect. The port of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky was closed.

The work of all emergency and rescue services and ambulances is difficult. Public transport is intermittent.

The atmospheric vortex is shifting to the north of the Sea of ​​Okhotsk towards Magadan. In the coming hours, the cyclone will most strongly affect the weather conditions in the Koryak Autonomous Okrug.
