Elections were held in the parliaments of Bashkiria and Dagestan

In Dagestan and Bashkiria, elections were held last weekend. In both republics, the elections are recognized as held. In Bashkiria, they voted for deputies at the State Assembly of the Republic, everything went calmly. Observers of surprises do not predict, most likely, as before, the State Assembly will form mainly supporters of the Bashkir President Murtaza Rakhimov.

You can’t call the elections in Dagestan calmly, like the situation in the republic. Here, for the first time, a new composition of parliament and local government was chosen simultaneously. On the eve of the election day, representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said that a group of criminals who prepared sabotage and terrorist attacks was neutralized. The law enforcement in the election was provided by the entire 20 thousandth corps of the Dagestan police. Nevertheless, the incidents could not be avoided. On Saturday, in the Dagestan village of Chirkey, several supporters of one of the candidates tried to disrupt the election of the head of the local administration: they penetrated the polling station and destroyed about 1000 ballots. In the village of Kachal, 200 residents also broke into the polling station and destroyed a large number of ballots. The police managed to stop the riots that began due to the fact that one of the women was not allowed to participate in the vote.
