“Russia” is growing NTV
If the transition to the “second button” of the creator of Russian “Dolls” Vasily Grigoriev was practically a done deal, then negotiations with Sergei Shumakov, who was until recently deputy general director and chief producer of NTV, were conducted, according to the newspaper “Vremya Novostei”, for several weeks. In the media environment, he is considered one of the most qualified specialists in the field of non-political and entertainment television. He moved to NTV at the invitation of Boris Jordan in October 2001, leaving his position as head of artistic, entertainment and educational programs at ORT. For almost a year and a half, he was in charge of almost all non-political projects of NTV, including “Morning on NTV”, “The Domino Principle”, “The Third Wheel”, “All at Once”, etc. In addition, he oversaw the channel’s serial policy. After the resignation of Boris Jordan and the arrival of a new general director, Nikolai Senkevich, he, along with all the channel’s top managers, signed an open letter expressing distrust in the actions of the new head of NTV and his first deputy, Alexei Zemsky. From that moment on, Mr. Shumakov's fate was sealed. In recent weeks he has been on vacation, and recently wrote a letter of resignation from NTV.
Special projects producer Gennady Gokhshtein, film production producer of the Rossiya TV channel Valery Todorovsky, as well as Vasily Grigoriev himself will work under the leadership of Sergei Shumakov. The former general producer, Pavel Korchagin, remains at the TV channel for now, however, according to the Vremya Novostei newspaper, he will soon move to the production company Studio 2B, which creates programs, in particular, for the Rossiya TV channel.
