Iraq itself will dispose of its oil, promises the ambassador of the United States to Russia

The US Ambassador to Moscow, Alexander Vershbou, said that the United States will finance the Iraq oil sector to restore the oil sector, but they do not intend to use the oil produced in their interests. According to him, oil corporations "may help financially the goals of the restoration of the oil sector in Iraq, but all decisions will not be made by Washington, but Iraq."

The diplomat said that "at the first stage, the coalition will work with the Iraqi side in order to restore oil production as soon as possible."

Then, "all the oil that will be produced will be directed to the internal needs of Iraq, as well as income from Iraqi oil, which will be sold to international buyers," said Vershbow.

The diplomat noted that the UN Security Council could discuss the issue of replacing the oilie program “oil in exchange for food” for any other program that operated before the war in Iraq. It should include the use of Iraq oil sector to restore the country, reports Vershbou Interfax.

“I hope no one will try to take oil production in Iraq, in this area it is necessary to make pragmatic decisions,” the ambassador summed up.

In addition, Vershbow assured that the United States "is not trying to exclude Russia's participation in the post -war recovery of Iraq." And a number of problems, including questions about licenses and oil contracts that were concluded with Iraq earlier, should be decided "separately in each case."

At the same time, the diplomat emphasized that Washington was “committed to cooperation with Moscow, despite the disagreements that manifested themselves during the development of the Iraq crisis.”
