The UN Human Rights Commission rejected the draft resolution on Chechnya

The UN Human Rights Commission rejected the draft resolution on the situation in Chechnya today at the Geneva session today. It was introduced by the countries of the European Union, supported by candidates for joining the EU and the United States of America, ITAR-TASS reports.

The delegations of 21 countries voted against this project, and 15. 17 states abstained.

With a sharp criticism of the draft resolution, a number of provisions of which contains a distorted assessment of the situation in Chechnya, in addition to the delegation of Russia, the session was Cuba, China, India, Syria and Libya. They drew attention to positive changes in the republic, and in particular the great importance of the referendum on March 23.

The draft resolution on Chechnya, initiated by the European Union, does not find support in the UN Human Rights Commission for the second year in a row .
