
The Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexy II sent an Easter greeting to the Pope John Paul II . This was reported to RIA Novosti today in the department of external church ties of the Moscow Patriarchate (MPC MP).
As you know, the Roman Catholic Church and many other Christian churches living according to the Gregorian calendar (the new style) celebrated the holiday of the resurrection of Christ .
"On this bright day, accept congratulations on the holiday of Holy Easter," the message of the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church Papa says.
“With the faith in Christ the resurrected, we turn eyes to our heavenly Fatherland. Being out with Christ through the carrying of a cross and dying for sin, we resurrect with Him for a new life, knowing“ Him, and the power of His resurrection, and his participation in His suffering, consistent with His death in order to achieve the resurrection of the dead, ”writes Alexy II, quoting the Holy Scriptures.
“Congratulating you on the holiday of the Resurrection of Christ,” the Patriarch notes in the message, “I wish you and your flock of joy about our Lord, who is“ rushing from the dead of the Father ”, so that“ we walk in an updated life ”.
According to the Association, the head of the Russian Orthodox Church also sent Easter greetings to the heads of all the Orthodox and alosion Christian churches and religious associations living according to the Gregorian calendar.
The Russian Orthodox Church uses the Julian calendar and will celebrate Easter on April 27.
