Yaroslav Kirillovich Golovanov was born in 1932 in an acting family. In 1956 he graduated from the Bauman MVTU missile faculty and worked at the Research Institute for two years, the scientific director of which was academician Mstislav Keldysh. Then, for more than 40 years, Golovanov worked in the newspaper Komsomolskaya Pravda.

All these years, the main topics of Golovanov were the history of science and astronautics. It was he who "opened" for a wide range of readers of the classified general designer Sergei Korolev. Over the years of his work, Golovanov wrote more than 20 scientific, artistic and prose books, which were published in 25 different languages ​​of the world.

In 2001, Golovanov’s three -volume “Notes of our contemporary” was published, which covers half a century of life of the author and is perhaps the most popular work of the journalist and one of the most famous publicists of Russia.
