After the fall of France, England found itself face to face with Nazi Germany. “I can only promise you hardships, blood, sweat and tears” - with these words, the newly appointed Prime Minister of Great Britain, Winston Churchill, addressed the British people.

Perhaps it was these words from Churchill's famous speech that surfaced in the mind of Putin's anonymous speechwriter when he tinkered with the following passage of the presidential message: “Throughout our history, Russia and its citizens have performed and are performing a truly historic feat. Maintaining a state over a vast area, preserving a unique community of peoples with a strong position of the country in the world is not only a huge job. It is also a huge sacrifice, deprivation of our people. This is precisely the thousand-year historical path of Russia. This is the way to reproduce it as a strong country. And we have no right to forget about it.”

Very many of our professional "sovereigns" - such as, for example, Alexander Tsipko or Alexander Dugin - were so inspired by this really very important paragraph of the message that they heard in it the fateful voice of the sovereign trumpet, some secret sign of the mysterious Putin-Stirlitz to his supporters, whom he will lead at the head of "our revolution, the Conservative Revolution, the National Revolution" to "the revival of the imperial world greatness of the Fatherland."

If W. Churchill promised his people in the most difficult hour of their history blood, sweat and tears for the years of the war with Germany, then V. Putin or his speechwriter promise the Russian people "enormous sacrifices and hardships" for all time. Moreover, according to this absurd philosophy of historical masochism, the whole of Russian history is immersed in a kind of eternal vicious circle. The people perform feats, bear huge sacrifices and hardships in order to preserve the space, the retention of which requires new feats, sacrifices and hardships. Space devouring historical Time. However, this fairy tale about a God-bearing people, whose only purpose is to perform feats and bear huge sacrifices and hardships, is not at all original. This is the eternal song of the Russian elite, addressed to the Russian people: you perform feats there, make huge sacrifices and endure hardships, and here we will lead a great power and a “vast space”.

It was so sweet to talk about a special Russian path with huge sacrifices and hardships, and also about catholicity and spirituality in cozy noble estates, and in Tsekovsky sanatoriums, and in today's palaces on Rublevsky and Uspensky.

This attitude towards one's own people as a God-bearing cattle, as a colonial people, as a raw material for the elite's sovereign exercises led to both the catastrophe of 1917 and the catastrophe of 1991. It will lead to the third, if, as never before, the well-fed and irresponsible elite does not give up its centuries-old attitude towards sacrifice and deprivation of the people called to perform feats.

For too long, within the framework of this model, Russian Space devoured Russian Time, preserving itself. But, apparently, some allotted resources have been exhausted and the stage of historical collapse sets in - the Space begins to devour itself. Russian rulers, fluttering from one rebuilt residence with a jacuzzi to another and continuing to call for sacrifice and deprivation, did not seem to notice this phase transition.

Twelve years ago, we lost almost half of the space, in many respects precisely because of the seventy-year attitude to exploits, sacrifices and hardships, which no longer attracted anyone and no longer deceived anyone. Most likely, in the next 10-15 years we will lose the Far East and Siberia as a result of the creeping Chinese demographic expansion, and no sacrifices, hardships and exploits will stop this. Just the opposite. It is thanks to these sacrifices and hardships imposed on them that people leave from there, leaving these territories, or simply die prematurely. And new women are no longer giving birth. There is only one way to keep the Russian Space in our time: by taking care of the human comfortable living conditions there for as many Russian people as possible.

Let's hope that the passage about exploits and sacrifices, which aroused such enthusiasm among part of our "elite", is just an unsuccessful rhetorical move by an unknown speechwriter who inappropriately recalled Churchill's speech. And if this is a conscious political, ideological position of the president, then he is destined to preside over the final stage of the collapse of the Russian state.
