The experience of the Center for Secondary Vocational Education seems to be a success

Children are known to develop unevenly. The abilities of some begin to manifest later than others. And at school, almost from the first grade, the lazy and “incapable” person is once and for all labeled appropriately. As a result, the “incapable” (maybe a hidden genius, a kind of Ilya Muromets, who has not yet got off the stove) barely reaches the ninth grade and can complete his education there ...

But it is at this age, and even in front of an army hanging like a thundercloud, that a teenager becomes “a young man who thinks about life.” Right now he can take up the mind, but it turns out - it's too late. And this is fifteen years old! Before my eyes is the example of the son of a close friend. Denis barely mastered the nine classes, although he always seemed to be a developed boy. On the tenth day, they didn’t take him, and he himself didn’t want to. The school in his view is something like an army with drill and hazing.

“Are you interested in anything at all?!” his mother wailed. And one day Denis answered: "Psychology." “What else is psychology with your grades!” my friend exclaimed. And then I thought, bought a guide to secondary educational institutions in Moscow and came across a line in it: "Center for Secondary Vocational Education." Admission based on the results of the dictation and interview for three specialties: economist, lawyer and psychologist (!).

In the first year, Denis studied unevenly. In addition to some special subjects, there were general education for the 10th-11th grades. He didn't get along with all of them. And yet there is no comparison with the school. Denis felt a completely different attitude of teachers (by the way, almost without exception - candidates of science working at the Center part-time) and, most importantly, he realized that he was not a schoolboy, but a student.

In special subjects, he had no problems at all. What interests and is not done under duress is easily digested.

In his second year, Denis became one of the best in college. And now he's going to college. And just go to hand over the documents, not the entrance exams. Having successfully completed college, he will immediately be in the second, or even third year of the university. Metamorphosis with Denis interested me so much that I met with the director of the Center, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences Alla Petrovna Aksenova. Here is what she said:

- Our Center provides a consistently high level of training, which is well known in many metropolitan universities.

Perhaps the secret is that, with strict attendance discipline, we maintain confidential contact with the parents of students: the leaders of the Center and teachers constantly call them if their child starts to miss classes or start a subject. This is how a smooth transition from school to institute is carried out.

I know the requirements of universities well, I myself worked in some of them and in many I was a member of the selection committees.

Almost all ninety of his classmates will follow Denis's path - from college straight to the second or third (depending on academic performance) course of the institute (more precisely, different institutes). One of these days they receive diplomas... But we will continue to patronize them.

And in the summer - a new set. Already - two hundred students (started with ten). The most effective is word-of-mouth advertising, which, on their own initiative, is done by the college's pupils (thus, after listening to their stories, nine people from another college transferred to us two years ago).

But not everything is rosy for us. And students happen to be expelled (mainly for drunkenness and non-attendance), and some teachers have to leave if their professional and human level is lower than expected.

And the most unpleasant: attempts to transfer the premises rented by the Center to more commercially profitable applicants do not stop. While we, as they say, are fighting back ... But this takes the strength that teachers need for something completely different ...
