Alexander Lukashenko may allow NTV to return to Belarus

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko admits that in the situation around the closure of the NTV corps in Belarus and expulsions from the country of the correspondent of this television company Pavel Selin both sides (both NTV and the leadership of Belarus), perhaps, got excited.

“Both sides may have gotten awakened, maybe they hastened. There is no one -way movement - someone drove forward, someone lagged behind, I do not exclude,” Lukashenko said on Saturday on the air of the Personal contribution program to NTV.

Answering the presenter’s question about how he relates to the proverb “who will remake the old one, that’s his eyes,” the Belarusian president noted: “This is a proverb of pragmatists. I am really ready to look forward. And our people, our state, are ready to look forward, taking into account the mistakes of the past. You are absolutely right in this.”

To the presenter’s question, whether the former Prime Minister Gennady Novitsky consulted with Alexander Lukashenko, when he decided to close the NTV Coroner in Belarus, Lukashenko replied that "such decisions are not made without coordination with the president." “I was aware of all events,” he emphasized.

Commenting on Saturday the attitude of the Belarusian leadership to the press, Lukashenko remarked: “Come to us and, I beg you, try, as far as possible to be objective. Don’t do bad things - not like you (you say anything about me), do not offend Belarusians. After all, this is really a reliable, honest and decent ally for your state and for a Russian person.”

The Council of Ministers of Belarus on July 8 decided to close NTV in the Republic of Coroning. Earlier, on June 28, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus decided to deport from the Republic of its own correspondent of NTV Pavel Selin.

The reason for these actions of the Belarusian authorities were the facts of biased, according to official Minsk, coverage of events in Belarus. In particular, the authorities are charged with their own correspondent of NTV in Minsk to a tag of facts and the incorrect interpretation of events during events related to the funeral of the famous Belarusian writer Vasil Bykov.

The official Minsk previously called the bringing of the Russian television company NTV an apology for the resumption of NTV's activities in the republic.

Despite the fact that the clearly formulated apology from the NTV representative during his conversation with the president of Belarus was not sounded, one could understand from the dialogue that the parties regret what had happened and intend to take steps towards each other.

In Minsk, local observers expressed Interfax the opinion that the general tonality of the dialogue on the air allows us to hope that the conflict between the Belarusian authorities and NTV will be resolved in the near future.
