
The leader of one of the largest Iraqi Kurdish parties - the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PSK) - Jalyal Talabani invited the Pope John Paul II to visit Iraq, reports ITAR -TASS with reference to the Al -Tithad newspaper owned by the PSK.
This proposal sounded at a meeting of Talabani with the secretary of the Holy See for relations with the states by Archbishop Jean-Louis Toran. Talbani is currently in Italy as part of the delegation of the ruling Council of Iraq.
"Talabani will offer his Holiness Papa John Paul II to visit Iraq and Iraqi Kurdistan to pray at the places of recently discovered mass burials there," the Al -Tithad newspaper reports.
