| Yesterday, Belarusian Information Minister Mikhail Podgainy was dismissed. His place was taken by the former ambassador to China Vladimir Rusakevich. Lukashenko expressed dissatisfaction with Podgainy’s work back in the spring, although at the end of May the publication of the non-state “Belarusian Delovaya Gazeta” and other publications was suspended. This did not help the minister retain his post. Board member of the Belarusian Association of Journalists Leonid Mindlin said in an interview with our correspondent: “Rusakevich will be tougher on the media than Podgainy. After all, Podgainy knows many journalists personally, and his personal attitude towards people leaves an imprint.” Natalya VIKTOROVA, Minsk
