Belarusian athletes who take first place at the next Olympic Games (summer in Athens and winter in Turin) will be able to receive $60 thousand. Silver medalists can count on $30 thousand, bronze medalists - $22.5 thousand. Such rewards are provided for Belarusian Olympians by decree of the President of Belarus, approved on Tuesday by the Presidium of the Council of Ministers. The government information department also reported that, according to the decree, the winners of the Paralympic Games will receive $12 thousand, silver medal holders - $6 thousand, bronze medals - $4.5 thousand. These rewards are planned to be exempt from income tax.
The government noted that the draft decree of the head of state provides for tax benefits for five years for legal entities and individual entrepreneurs who provide financial assistance in preparing for and ensuring the participation of Belarusian athletes in the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
