The Moscow prosecutor’s office protested the court verdict in relation to a number of former employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

"The Moscow prosecutor’s office was brought a protest for the Mosgorsuda of the Mosgorsud in the Criminal case on charges of the head of the Department of the Central Regional Administration for Combating Organized Crime (ORB CROBOP) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia Lieutenant Colonel Mikhail Ignatov and other former employees of this department in exceeding the official powers and receiving a bribe," the capital prosecutor's office said.

"The prosecutor's office believes that the punishment in the form of three years in prison applied to Ignatov clearly does not correspond to the severity of the crimes committed by him and is assigned without taking into account the onset of harmful consequences for the victims," ​​the document says.

The press service of the Moscow Prosecutor's Office emphasized that the court considered Ignatov guilty of nine investigation in the indictment of the episodes, including with the use of torture, tossing weapons of obviously innocent persons in order to bring them to criminal liability.

In addition, the court considers it proved that Ignatov, having exceeded the official powers, intervened in the legal relations between businessman Evgeny Trostentsov and Igor Novikov, RIA Novosti reports.

As the representative of the press service explained, Ignatov forced the mother of Novikov - the famous figure skating coach Elena Tchaikovskaya - under the threat of illegal prosecution of her son to transfer to Trostentsov $ 150 thousand.

As for the extortion of Ignatov, Elena Tchaikovskaya has 100 thousand dollars for the release of her son, illegally brought to criminal liability, this episode, according to the court, has not been proven. Therefore, the court acquitted Ignatov on charges of receiving a bribe. "The prosecutor’s office did not agree with Ignatov’s justification on charges of a bribe and protested the court’s sentence in this part,” the press service of the Moscow Prosecutor's Office noted.

Mikhail Ignatov was detained in Moscow on May 25, 2001 for extorting a bribe. In early May, the capital’s own security department received a statement that one of the high -ranking officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was extorting 200 thousand US dollars from Elena Tchaikovskaya. She was supposed to give them through the intermediary for the release of the criminal liability of her son, who was detained red -handed when attacking a businessman.

According to Tchaikovskaya, a criminal case was opened. The intermediary was supplied with bold money and on May 3 was sent to a meeting with Ignatov, which was recorded by a hidden camera. The next day, Mikhail Ignatov was summoned to a conversation in the USB of the Central Internal Affairs Directorate, where he was detained.
