Representatives of the musician explain the action by the fact that he changed his design preferences, and now instructed specialists to arrange his home in a minimalist style.

In 1988, Elton John undertook a similar large -scale action, selling all the contents of his wardrobe, jewelry and works of art - a total of 2 thousand lots and earnings over 4 million pounds. Later he also sold collections of his glasses and shoes. Sir Elton's things are simply a monstrous amount, and the pairs of shoes and the number of jackets are calculated in his hundreds.

The main lot at the current auction was the painting by Maxwell Armfield, depicting the park on Madison Square, which was sold for 67,200 pounds, almost doubled the starting price. The portrait of Elizabeth I, written in 1617 by the artist of the circle of William Larkin, was sold for 54 thousand pounds, despite the fact that the experts expected the picture from 30 to 40 thousand pounds.

During the auction, lamps, gilded mirrors, glass trinkets, candelabra, tables, buffets, watches, statues, a table service, the contents of two living rooms and several bedrooms also left the hammer. The personal bed of John from the rosewood was sold for 3600 pounds, more than doubleting the price offered. Fans of the singer with modest means bought candelabra for only 96 pounds.
