The head of Venezuela accused Columbus of Genocide

Venezuela President Hugo Chavez called on the inhabitants of Latin America to boycott the celebration of Columbus Day, accusing the great navigator of genocide, the Air Force reports.

Venezuela leader made his speech at a meeting with representatives of the South America Indians in Karakas. According to Chavez, the result of the discovery of America Christopher Columbus was the destruction of the indigenous population of the New World by European colonialists.

It should be noted that in Mexico the same Columbus is revered on a par with the national hero of the Kuautemok, the last Aztec emperor.
