On Saturday, around noon, the first three of 46 miners trapped there were lifted from the Zapadnaya-Kapitalnaya mine in Novoshakhtinsk, Rostov region, a RIA Novosti correspondent reports from the scene. The same agency notes that the fate of 13 of the 46 people trapped in the mine remains unknown. Their search continues.

As the mine rescue service explained, the widespread information that all 46 miners were found alive was premature. The confusion arose because the 33 miners discovered were initially divided into two groups - 20 and 13 people. The second of them was mistakenly taken for those 13 miners, whose fate remained and remains unknown since approximately 9:00, when information appeared that 33 miners had been found alive. They are located at the trunk of the so-called inspector lift.

As told RIA Novosti the press secretary of the governor of the Rostov region, Kirill Zhitenev, , 33 miners got in touch by phone. They called the dispatcher at the moment when the rescuers on the inspection cage were making their first descent into one of the mine shafts.

According to preliminary information, the lives of the rescued miners are not in danger. This was reported to journalists by the doctors of the mine rescue unit, who conducted an initial examination of the miners. There are two paramedics in the mine who provide the necessary assistance to the miners, adds RIA Novosti.

A large number of people - relatives and friends of the miners - gathered near the entrance to the mine on Saturday morning. According to the NTV channel , at about 11:30 one of the leaders of the rescue operation headquarters came out to them and reported that all the miners found underground were alive and in satisfactory condition. According to him, all miners are “walkers.” Meanwhile, according to an NTV correspondent, two miners are in serious condition. The headquarters representative also said that the rise of all miners is expected to take 6-8 hours.

The emergency at the Zapadnaya-Kapitalnaya mine, part of Rostovugol Company LLC, occurred on October 23 around 17:00. Groundwater poured into the mine shaft at a level of 420-470 meters, near a large underground lake. At the time of the accident in There were 71 people at the face. 25 miners managed to get to the surface in the first minutes after the shaft broke. The prosecutor's office of the Rostov region opened a criminal case into the accident. It is being investigated under Article 216, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation - “Violation of safety rules when conducting mining and other work, resulting in serious consequences due to negligence.”
