In Kaliningrad, on Monday, due to an accident without heating and hot water, approximately 500 residential buildings and about 200 other buildings remained.
"The accident occurred this afternoon on the main highway of the heating networks belonging to the Kaliningradteploset Municipal Unitary Enterprise. A heating main breakthrough was recorded literally 30 meters from the territory of the Kaliningrad TPP-1, which provides with warm and hot water about 500 apartment buildings of the regional center," the head of the press service of the City Hall of Kaliningrad Lidia Pimenov told Interfax.
At the same time, 26 schools, 16 orphanages, 32 medical institutions, 107 administrative buildings and 503 residential buildings turned out to be deprived of heat.
Pimenova noted that the repair work on the heating main, which takes place above the railway tracks, will be completed within a day. The leadership of urban heating systems considers an accident to be a regular situation that is associated with the first days of the heating season, when the detection and elimination of breakthroughs and leaks of the hot water supply system at increased pressure occurs. Energy experts say that it will take about three days to carry out repair work.
In connection with this accident, Yantarenergo OJSC, which belongs to the Kaliningrad CHP-1, has spread a statement about the forced stop of thermal power plants, which provides warmth of 20% of all consumers of the regional center, which is approximately 80 thousand people.
In the duty service of the Civil Defense and Emergency Service of the Kaliningrad Region, Interfax recalled that without heat and hot water in the district center Gusev (Kaliningrad region), more than 7 thousand inhabitants are still located. The delay with the beginning of the heating season in the city is due to the fact that the municipal authorities dragged on with the repair of the heating main, which passes over the river.
Meanwhile, these days in the Kaliningrad region, relatively warm weather was established, when the temperature does not fall below plus 12-14 degrees during the day. At night, the temperature is fixed within plus 6-9 degrees.
