The former head of the Foreign Ministry Taliban refused to take a post in the government of Afghanistan

Former Foreign Minister in the Taliban government, Mullah Vakil Ahmad Mutavakil, refused to propose the administration of the President of Afghanistan Hamida Karzai to occupy one of the ministerial posts in the country's government.

As it became known on Monday from Afghan government sources, Mutavakil considers the issue of obtaining political asylum in one of the Arab countries, presumably in Qatar. This is also reported by the Arab newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat .

Recently, the ex-head of the Taliban foreign policy, representing the moderate wing of this movement, was released by the Americans . Thus, the United States "rewarded" him for intermediary services provided in negotiations between the American military command and the Taliban in the southern province of Kandar, ITAR-TASS reports.

The ex-minister of Taliban surrendered to the American troops during the war in Afghanistan. Earlier, he repeatedly visited Dochu, seeking the recognition of the Taliban government by Qatar, but to no avail.

Only three countries - Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and the UAE - recognized the Taliban government, but broke off relations with him in October 2001 after the start of the US military operation and the UK in Afghanistan.

According to some reports, the spiritual leader of the Taliban Mullah Mohammad Omar sentenced Mutavakil to the death penalty for cooperation with the Americans.

Mutavakil for many years was the right hand of Mullah Omar, the main ideologist of the movement and enjoyed indisputable authority among the Taliban. However, according to eyewitnesses, in recent months before the start of the American military campaign in Afghanistan, he actually lost the patronage of Omar after he opposed the escalation of the conflict with the United States. With the outbreak of war, he disappeared from sight and publicly did not speak anywhere.
