The pre-election campaign managed to start two years ago - and there were some oddities. Most of the parties approached the elections, as they say, with empty baggage, having done absolutely nothing for the previous term that would be remembered by the voters. The only thing that remains in such a situation for politicians is to try to demonstrate their involvement in events to which in fact they had nothing to do. One of the events that caused a lively response from those wishing to get into the State Duma was the announcement by RAO "UES of Russia" to reduce electricity tariffs. The fuss around this topic began already a few days before the official statement of the power engineers.
On the evening of October 21, a report appeared on the REGNUM news feed about a protest action of naked girls against, oddly enough, an increase in electricity prices. The picket participants (20 people in total) lined up near the Pskovenergo building with placards “You are undressing us”. The highlight of the program was 19 girls in black masks, who took off their outerwear and underwear, and some with a bare bust, went through a "protest circle" in front of the entrance to the building. As it became known, the action almost failed due to a sharp cold snap. But in view of the impending threat of the announcement of tariff cuts, the organizers decided not to postpone it until more favorable weather conditions. However, it was impossible to delay any longer, and the Pskov lovers of nudity received an unexpected surprise.
No less original act was taken by the well-known United Russia party. In Chita and Yaroslavl, the Sverdlovsk region and Rostov-on-Don, all the entrances and mailboxes were filled with optimistic calls from United Russia: "We will not allow tariff increases!" The most curious, who did not immediately send the leaflet to its intended destination, in the trash, were surprised to find out that, it turns out, it was not RAO UES, but United Russia, that achieved "reduction of energy tariffs in 14 regions of Russia." Further, the authors of the paper, without false modesty, listed all the positive things that have happened in the Russian energy sector in recent times among their achievements. In particular, the stabilization and reduction of energy tariffs, the cessation of "rolling" blackouts, the preservation of the state controlling stake in electric power facilities.
This information is a real revelation! Especially for those who all this time somehow followed the course of reforms. Suffice it to recall that consideration of a package of bills on energy was postponed several times precisely through the fault of centrist factions, including United Russia. If these bills were adopted six months earlier, as planned, you see, ten more would have been added to the regions where the energy companies managed to reduce tariffs. So, all these changes happened not because of their efforts, but in spite of…
And if attentive readers begin to delve into memories, they may, alas, be completely disappointed in a game with such a wonderful name. After all, just six months ago, she did not even have her own clear program, backed up by at least some real achievements! The only pre-election fad was the "hunt for werewolves" from among the employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Emergency Situations, that is, direct subordinates of the leaders of Unity. So it was not because of the good life that the political consultants of Unity followed in the footsteps of the exhibitionists from Pskov and decided to take advantage of the reduction in tariffs that came in handy. Well... For inattentive voters, this can be quite effective.
