The real rating of Putin is determined

The biggest problems of Vladimir Putin are the economy and Chechnya, and most of the Russians are unhappy with the results of how he puts things in order in the country. These are the results of the survey, which was conducted by the analytical service of the VTsIOM-A at the end of November. Citizens were asked to evaluate the president’s work at once by six parameters, answering the question of how successfully he did the following problems over the past year:

- restoring order in the country;

- lifting the economy and the growth of the well -being of citizens;

- protection of democracy and political freedoms;

- Strengthening international positions of Russia;

- defeat of militants in Chechnya;

- Political settlement of the Chechen problem.

Chechnya turned out to be the least successful area of ​​Putin. According to the vast majority of respondents - 68%, the president does not manage to fulfill a promise that in 1999 became the leitmotif of his election campaign: to defeat, or, in his expression, "soak in the toilet", Chechen militants.

Only a quarter of citizens (24%) believe that Putin does it quite or even very successfully. It was difficult to answer 8%.

It is interesting that the Russians did not have illusions on this score at the time of past presidential elections, writes Gazeta.ru . Since 2000, the figures for assessing the President’s efforts in the Chechen direction have not changed much. This indicator was the worst for Putin a year ago, after Nord-Ost: then 74% of Russians extremely negatively evaluated his efforts to pacify Chechnya and only 18% supported them. The situation was somewhat corrected by the time of the referendum under the Chechnya Constitution in March (65% versus 30%). But, despite the same referendum and recent elections, predictably ending with Ahmad Kadyrov’s victory, with assessments of the political settlement of the Chechen problem, the picture is about the same. According to 63% of citizens, in this area the president acts without much success or completely unsuccessfully. 27% of respondents responded positively about his efforts. It was difficult to answer 10%.

If Chechnya has always remained a sick theme, then the economic stability, established with Putin’s coming to power, is considered his important achievement. However, according to citizens, despite the stable ruble exchange rate, the payment of external debt and the gradual increase in salaries, by and large everything is almost as bad as the Chechens. Most (61%) said that with the rise in the economy and the growth of the welfare of citizens, the president had coped without much success over the past year. Third surveyed (34%) stood up for Putin. It was difficult to answer 5%.

Almost the main trump card of the president - restoring order in the country - also, according to half of the Russians, is not such.

And although, as follows from the VTsIOM -A data, the Russians evaluate the activities of the current president in this area is noticeably better than his efforts with Chechnya, the balance is still not in his favor - only 47% of citizens are sure that the president put order in the country successfully, and 48% consider exactly the opposite. These numbers look especially impressive against the backdrop of the loud revelations of the werewolves in uniform, which happened exactly before the elections, and the hyperactivity of the Prosecutor General. To all these demonstrative efforts of the authorities, citizens are most indifferent.

There is only one significant success in the president - this is the strengthening of Russia's international positions. In any case, the successes on this front are merit 72% of the respondents. The lowest indicator for this criterion for evaluating Putin’s activities for the entire time of his presidency was registered in March 2001 - then it was 55%. A jerk was made after September 11, 2001, when Putin supported George Bush's intention to expand the World Anti -Terrorist Operation. As a result, already in November 2001, the number of supporters of the foreign policy of the President of Russia jumped to a level of 72%, around which it balances for the past two years. It was difficult for Putin’s international policy today only 6% of respondents.

In the protection of democracy and political freedoms of citizens, the president, judging by the reviews of Russians, also achieved success, albeit less noticeable. According to 45% of respondents, in this area Putin acts very or simply successfully.

The lack of success was declared 43%. Curious, but the Yukos business did not affect these quantities at all. The last fluctuations in assessments of the democracy of the regime (not in favor of the president) were recorded at the very beginning of his stay in this post. In 2000, the ratio was 30% versus 53%. Apparently, unexpected results can be explained by the fact that the democracy and political freedoms of Russians are apparently the least.

With all these not the best indicators, the main contradiction in relation to citizens to the President remains. Despite the low opinion of the Russians about solving specific problems for them, the total trust rating remains high - 78%.
