AFP agency, citing Lieutenant Colonel Christopher Pisa, reports that the truck used by terrorists for this explosion was filled with explosives weighing 455 kg. The size of the funnel from the explosion was five meters in diameter and five meters of depth.
According to AFP, 60 US military were injured, four of them are in serious condition.
The victims were part of the 3rd brigade of the 101st Airborne Division.
Earlier, a representative of the US military stated that all wounds are fragmentation and the dangers for the life of soldiers did not pose.
The explosion also destroyed 10 American military vehicles, reports Interfax.
The second attack
The second attack on the Americans occurred at another base, 48 kilometers from Baghdad.
The suicide bomber, tied with explosives, tried to blow up military personnel on the "advanced operating base of the thunder" in the city of Baacuba.
The suicide bomber lay down in front of the gate of the base, pretending to be sick. However, the soldiers, following the charter, ignored his actions. Then he activated an explosive device.
As a result of the explosion, two soldiers received minor injuries.
