Yukos sued tax authorities

According to Interfax, today Yukos filed a lawsuit in the Moscow Arbitration Court on the protection of business reputation to the Ministry of Taxes and Duties and deputy head of this department Igor Golikov. According to the press secretary of Yukos, Alexander Shadrin, the lawsuit was filed due to the fact that in December 2003 the management of the Ministry of Taxes and Duties in a letter signed by Golikov reported about 150 billion rubles allegedly unpaid by Yukos.

"The company considers the information widespread by the Ministry that is not true that defeat and harm the business reputation of the Yukos," the spokesman said. Yukos in the statement of claim requires the ministry and deputy minister Golikov to refute the common information about violation by the company of tax legislation and non -payment of taxes in the form of a referral of relevant letters to the Prosecutor General.
