Opportunity landed in the valley, where, according to some assumptions, in ancient times there could be a sea. In particular, a mineral was discovered there, which is usually formed in the marine environment.

The total cost of this expedition to Mars was about $ 820 million. Mars -proceeds will try to find evidence that there was no time on the Red Planet, which, therefore, there was a likelihood of life.

Meanwhile, NASA experts continue to study the data obtained from the Spirit Markhod, on board the technical problems.

“We should expect that even at best, the restoration of Spirit will take a considerable time, perhaps two weeks,” Peter Tayzinger, head of the expedition project, told reporters. Scientists believe that Spirit has problems with software.
