The uproar arose on Friday when it became known that Sergei Glazyev had secretly convened the founding congress of the all-Russian socio-political organization People's Patriotic Union Rodina, of which he became the head. At the same time, Andrei Savelyev , one of the members of the bloc's Supreme Council, left the hall meetings. “I did this as a sign of protest, because I am convinced that Glazyev’s words about the absence of a split are not confirmed by his deeds,” he said.

The usurpation of the name and program was obvious, in connection with which Rogozin, who was included in absentia only in the governing body of the second level, made a number of harsh statements calling on Comrade Glazyev to come to his senses.

“I think that the delegates to the congress of the Party of Russian Regions, which will meet on February 14, will understand the reasons for the split initiated by Glazyev,” said Dmitry Rogozin , referring to the organization behind him, one of the three large components of the Rodina bloc. Note that the actions of the comrades were called by their name, that is, schism. Moreover, Dmitry Olegovich announced non-recognition of the past congress and Glazyev’s “leader’s ambitions”.

It would seem that after such accusations there can no longer be any single bloc to which 5 million Russians voted. However, subsequent events once again reminded everyone that nothing is impossible in politics.

The meeting of the bloc's Supreme Council, which took place on Monday evening, despite heated discussions that reached personal accusations, managed to turn the situation around. After the meeting, Rogozin gave an unexpectedly peaceful interview to NTV , saying, in particular, the following: “... Sergei Yuryevich and I agreed not to engage in self-criticism in favor of our opponents with whom we fought and whom we beat on December 7. We will refrain from making statements and actions aimed at weakening the unity of our bloc." Kommersant discusses the sharp change in Rogozin’s mood.

Nezavisimaya Gazeta published material according to which Rogozin's failure at this congress was caused by a possible change in the sympathies of the presidential administration in favor of Glazyev.

True, despite the declared unity, the leaders of Rodina were no longer able to gloss over some problems: “As for the presidential campaign, yes, indeed, in some sense it brought confusion, and we definitely take different positions here. But I say again, This does not concern the faction." Rogozin would like to support Putin in the upcoming elections. Glazyev wants to defeat him, or at least ruin the holiday. Therefore, it is unlikely that the issue will be resolved in the near future.

Much has been said about the role of Viktor Gerashchenko in the conflict. He refrains from making loud statements and seems to stay aloof, although who else but him, the official candidate of one of the movements that make up the Rodina bloc, could take on the role of a peacemaker and “gatherer of lands.” This is apparently explained simply - there is no real power behind it. Sergei Baburin, the third co-chair of the bloc, who actively spoke at the meeting of the Supreme Council on Monday, is trying to break out of the information blockade. He probably wouldn’t mind becoming the sole head of Rodina either. By the way, the decision to form a unified structure was made precisely at his suggestion. But a unified structure and leader needs one...

For now the situation is stuck. In the near future, when the verdicts of the Supreme Court and the Central Election Commission on the possibility of registering Gerashchenko and Glazyev as candidates, respectively, become known, the balance of forces will become clearer.
