Japanese troops entered Iraq

The units of the Japanese Armed Forces crossed the Kuwait border on Sunday and entered Iraq. For the first time since 1945, Japanese troops will be deployed outside the country, the Air Force reports.

Most of the contingent are military engineers who will have to carry out humanitarian operations in the south of Iraq. In total, about 1000 people were sent from Japan. 200 of them will remain in Kuwait.

A column of 25 cars, who left the American camp of Virginia, crossed the Iraq-Kuwait border on Sunday morning. It consisted of military trucks, armored personnel carriers and ambulance vehicles. According to Reuters, 80 Japanese were thrown to Iraq.

Before Sunday, the avant -garde of the Japanese military was in Iraq. The primary tasks of the contingent include cleaning drinking water, deploying a field hospital and conducting other humanitarian operations in the south of Iraq.
