Russian aircraft will be accompanied by armed policemen in civilian clothes

Russian planes will be accompanied by armed police in civilian clothes. “The possibility of supporting flights by armed police officers in civilian clothes on a contractual basis is being considered,” Alexander Chekalin, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, said on Wednesday at a press conference at the Domodedovo airport.

According to him, police officers are currently underway for this work. “It will be optional training,” Chekalin said. For the purpose of the most competent and prompt response to emergency situations, police are additionally studying the device of the aircraft, as well as the features of actions on board the airliner.

Speaking about ensuring security at the airports, Chekalin pointed out improper protection of aircraft parking. According to him, in some cases, attackers have the opportunity to lay extraneous items on the plane when he is in the parking lot, RIA Novosti reports.

Chekalin said that on the eve of the Bykovo airport, unauthorized persons entered the Yak-42 aircraft and stole 20 blocks of electronic equipment from it.

According to Chekalin, employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the FSB conducted 143 tests of vigilance of the aircraft safety service. "In 23 cases - this is 17% - there was a real opportunity to penetrate the aircraft and those areas that may be of interest to terrorists," Chekalin said.
