
Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev proposes to solve the problem of unemployment by buying unprofitable villagers of cows, RIA Novosti reports. Today, Shaimiev met with the deputies of the district council of the Tukaevsky district of Tatarstan and told them that cows were bought in the neighboring Elabuzh district for unemployed residents. Thus, the village residents received a kind of workplace and guaranteed income from the sale of milk. The President of Tatarstan recommended interlocutors to adopt the experience of neighbors.
According to the Ministry of Labor and Employment of Tatarstan, the number of registered unemployed increased by 1.4 thousand people last year and amounted to 24.5 thousand people at the beginning of 2004. The level of registered unemployment was 1.3% of the economically active population. On average in Russia, the unemployment rate is 1.8%.
