The lawyers of Mikhail Khodorkovsky, Alexei Pichugin and Platon Lebedev announced difficult conditions for detention of their clients, the Radio station "Echo of Moscow" reports.

Lawyer Robert Amsterdam said that torture was used in relation to Pichugin. Lawyer Tatyana Akimtseva said that she herself saw traces of injections and filed a complaint with the court that psychotropic drugs were applied to her client. Akimtseva also noticed that Pichugin lost 30 kg of weight in 7 months of conclusion and, according to experts, he develops diabetes and tuberculosis.

According to lawyer Yevgeny Baru, the health of his client Plato Lebedev also worsens. The lawyer said that Lebedev is in the infectious department of the prison hospital and his hypertension progresses and his vision is catastrophically.

The lawyer of Mikhail Khodorkovsky Robert Amsterdam, in turn, said that he could not visit the cell of his client, but would achieve this. He became aware that Khodorkovsky takes the soul once a week.

In addition, the lawyer expressed indignation that "the number one businessman in Russia was brought to court in the same way as in the United States to Verden Ben Laden - under the muzzles of machine guns."

He also called Khodorkovsky the "personification of love for the motherland", since he returned to Russia even under the threat of arrest and now everything he demands is an open court.

At the same time, Robert Amsterdam casts doubt on the possibility of a fair and open hearing of his client.

"We declare the Government of the Russian Federation that the current behavior of the prosecutor's office casts doubt on any possibility of a fair and open hearing," he said.

Amsterdam considers it necessary to find a way that Khodorkovsky, as well as other clients - the shareholder of the MFI MENATEP Platon Lebedev and the UKOS Security Service Alexei Pichugin - had the opportunity to hear his case in front of an open court.

According to Amsterdam, the FSB of the Russian Federation begins to "actively deal with political issues and issues of justice in this country."

"I condemn the fact that Lefortovo’s insulator is under FSB," he said.

"Russia cannot but pay attention to obligations under international treaties," in particular, as the lawyer of Khodorkovsky explained to the conditions of the European Convention on Human Rights.

The former head of the oil company Yukos Mikhail Khodorkovsky was detained on October 25 last year in Novosibirsk and delivered to Moscow. On the same day, the Basmanny Court of Moscow issued a sanction for his arrest.

The Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation accuses Khodorkovsky under seven articles of the Criminal Code, including in theft by large -scale fraud, tax evasion - as the head of the organization and as an individual. The term of its detention was extended until March 25, 2004.

Along with Mikhail Khodorkovsky, the shareholder of the MFI Menatep Platon Lebedev were arrested on charges of assigning an Apatit company belonging to the state of shares of the company and in a tax evasion by an individual, as well as an employee of the UKOSS Service Service Alexei Pichugin.
