“What a teacher she is, she is generally a guide” - in the tone of this phrase, an universal longing was heard about those days when the school, thank God, could do without random people. Teachers without basic pedagogical education at the school are suffered as necessary, but they are down to them.
Once at the pedagogical council a hot argument of education erupted. The young graduate of the pedagogical university (who, by the way, very quickly left the school for the sake of a commercial company) expressed a heretical thought: "Or maybe we will still focus on training, and let our parents study?" And then she rose, pale with indignation, the head teacher and a broken voice cried out: "No, we will educate, because we are professionals!"
In me then a long -forgotten fright woke up, experienced seventeen years ago. Then I was still a very young mother, and my first -born Kate was the fifth year. The dawn of perestroika hung perplexedly over Moscow, and, running from line to queue, we felt that, probably, you could already think in a new way, although everything was somehow once. Once we stood at a bus stop, and the expectation threatened to drag on. Katya, a patient child of the 80s, always had a set in her pockets, which helped her to steal endless expectations in lines, at stops, or even at rallies, to which her mother was a big hunter. And now she took out a tolky, she squatted down and began to draw a flower. An elderly lady with a hard face, in which the former/acting teacher or part -time was unmistakably guessed, quietly, but monstrously imperiously ordered her to stop this disgrace. Katya immediately took out small toys and placed a scam from them on a stump that appeared nearby. But in me the maternal instinct leaped in me. I pouted and muttered, without addressing anyone: "All over the world, children draw on the asphalt, and this causes only tenderness, but we have irritation."
The answer was heard immediately: "Probably, they draw there in specially designated places where passers -by cannot stain their legs. And you need to better raise your child." I was so outraged that, the last wit left me, and I could only dull me stupidly: "My child, as I want, and raising it." With the same chilling calm, she retorted: "No, your child belongs to society, and you will educate him as society requires." - "Do not wait!" I shouted already in tears and dragged Katya away from this terrible stop.
Then I sometimes reflected on this incident. Indeed, in the words of the woman there was a certain degree of truth. But I felt in my right. I was brought up on the priority of collectivism, but new ideas of personality value have already been included in everyday life. Yes, the child has to live in society, and they should be good with each other - a child with society and society with a child. But who will determine what society needs from the child - this woman is at a stop? Or the head teacher, a champion of professional education, who does not have everything safely with their own children? Or maybe a teacher of English, who spoke out for the knitting “ half ” at a pedagogical council dedicated to the introduction of a uniform at school? Or the director, who, feeling something was amiss, defiantly corrected her: "Not the half of the faith , but the floor is at the faith"?
God with them, with the "half -tops". In the end, a person who claims to be intelligent should not laugh at other people's mistakes, even if these are professional mistakes, and if the child brings such a word from school, he can be tactfully corrected. Another scares: at school there are professionals, confident in the fact that, together with the diploma of a pedagogical university, they automatically received a patent from society to form personalities, some secret and inaccessible to mortal knowledge of what a person of the near future should be. In fact, to whom to decide how to educate the future member of society - parents who know the child from the moment of his first scream, but, alas, work in areas far from pedagogy, or members of a special casta, endowed with mysterious power?
It even happens that parents are perceived as an annoying interference in a harmonious system of professional education.
Here is an example: Olga Petrovna, a class teacher, a low and chubby woman of about sixty with a tail. Her uniform is a knitted skirt with huge red roses and a striped pulver with a gold anchor in full chest. I would in no case point out attention on her manner to dress; In the end, many very worthy people with their appearance declare complete indifference to vain fashion, and I deeply respect their position. What made me describe her clothes was the manic desire of this sweeter lady to raise taste not only among her pets, but also with their parents. What she does at every convenient and inconvenient case.
Once at the pedagogical council, it was about the fact that parents are very difficult to raise children. Olga Petrovna did not fail to get up and, worried, tell the story of the gathered chilling soul: the girl from the ninth grade entrusted to her came to school with green strands in the bangs. It is unnecessary to say that a cool mentor flew into the student with a kite, demanding a date with her mother. The girl proudly said that she was just her mother and painted her these ill-fated strands. "Ah, you're also lying!" Closer to midnight in the girl’s apartment, a telephone rang out. The class teacher indignantly told her mother that her daughter came to school in an indecent form, and even lied that her mother had a hand in her bangs. Mom, oddly enough, confirmed the version of the girl. "But how could you?" - the teacher gasped. “I did not want to become my daughter an enemy,” the mother answered weightily.
This wise woman felt that if she herself, with the maximum possible taste, will paint a girl with a few strands, she, enjoying a short triumph, is saturated with this idea, instead of locked in the bathroom, turn into a waterpiece, and even hesitate the mother-raygrad and is fenced off with an impassable wall.
- Do you understand? - exclaimed Olga Petrovna. - It turns out that I became an enemy twice, and my mother - twice became a friend to her.
It seems that in this audience I belonged to a minority that is not able to understand why it was so bad that my mother remained a friend. Most understood and nodded their heads sorrowfully. After all, how much it would be better if the mother became an enemy, how easy it would be to then educate him without extraneous influence, in accordance with the mystical "order of society".
It was not accidental about the ill -fated half -tops at the pedagogical council, but in the framework of the painful topic of introducing a uniform at school. This action, which, after many years of struggle, was crowned with success, was directed not so much against loose high school students, allowing themselves to flaunt a naked navel and an earring in it as against the deprived of the taste of the parents of younger children. The whole crusade was deployed against ... long skirts, for some reason causing sacred horror among the director. The call to eradicate evil was together by the team: in the lessons of OBZH, children were inspired that long skirts were the main cause of terrible injuries and children's mortality. Firmly confident in its sacred right to decide what society needed, the school administration did not doubt for a minute that the girls who are inclined to wear long skirts, society, of course, was not needed. Since it was about children 9-13 years old, not yet completely independent in choosing a style, the exhausting military operations were directed, of course, against parents.
This messianism scares me in some (far from all, of course) professional teachers. Very often, these people do not have everything safely in social terms, that is, they themselves have big problems with the very society, on behalf of which they act so decisively. But their confidence is nothing to shake, even the fact that their opponents -children are much more successful and socially adapted, and therefore, they are able to tell their child a rather reasonable line of behavior.
A few years ago, a cry from high rooms swept out at school conferences: society is changing (yes, imagine!), Values are reassessing, children should be prepared for life in the new conditions, that is, they will develop enterprise and market thinking in them. Having gritted their teeth, teachers who have gray in battles for the moral purity of children and avoided pronouncing the word "money", rushed to master a new terminology, attended special trainings and courses. But then everything somehow subsided. It is for the better.
Now, as far as I managed to notice, there are plenty of clear guidelines of personality formation from above, although there are plenty of explosive words, such as the “activity approach”, in the instructions. However, this does not bother teachers. From conversations, I figured out that in principle, instructions are not required. The teacher knows how to educate, just by definition - because he is a teacher.
And again, my reasoning led me to the idea that if pedagogical knowledge were not the “Order of the Swordsmen”, but the entire educated part of society, a more tolerant atmosphere reigned in schools. In other words, I again advocate for the reform of pedagogical education: not to allocate it in a special direction, but to teach the foundations of the methods to students of all specialties, as is done in many universities, and in many foreign countries. And pedagogy from a certain mystical practice, accessible only to the initiates, would turn into a truly creative act, not constrained by dogmas, which, strictly speaking, any science about such an unpredictable phenomenon as a person.
