A powerful explosion at the Eretz checkpoint - three versions of what happened

At the Eretz checkpoint in the north of the Gaza sector, a strong explosion occurred on Saturday. It is reported about the dead and wounded Palestinians, but the circumstances of the incident receive a contradictory assessment.

According to Israeli military sources, Palestinian militants committed two terrorist actions against army positions at once. One of the militants tried to break through the barriers of the checkpoint from the Palestinian side in a jeep, disguised as the Israeli military car. The militant began to shoot at the soldiers who killed him with return fire.

At the same time from Israel, another car drove almost close to the checkpoint. A person who was driving brought an explosive device into actions. None of the Israelis was injured.

At the same time, Palestinian sources report the joint operation of the Islamic Jihad and Brigade of the Martyrs of Al-Aksa. According to them, in the area of ​​the village of Beit Khanun, adjacent to the military zone of the Erez checkpoint, a bomb was blown up on the path of the Israeli patrol.

The purpose of the action was the destruction of the Israeli tank. As a result of the “response actions of the occupation forces”, the group of groups is indicated, two of the organizers of the explosion and three Palestinian police officers were killed.

According to the third version, a car with Palestinian militants, which approached the Etzer checkpoint, mistakenly fell under mortar shelling from a nearby Palestinian village. Two passengers were killed, two more Palestinian police officers died from the wounds on the way to the hospital. The nine Palestinians were wounded nearby.

Israeli military specialists are investigating the incident to clarify the exact causes of what happened, RIA Novosti reports.
