President of Georgia on the border of Ajaria was met with shots

Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili was not allowed to Adjara this morning. Saakashvili went from Poti Poti to Adjara for meetings with voters on the eve of the elections to the Georgian Parliament on March 28. The Secretary of the Council of Security of Georgia Vano Merabishvili said that on the administrative border of Adjaria, “the President’s motorcade was met by heavy equipment, grenade launchers and armed people”.

According to the Tbilisi television company Rustavi-2, which today shown reports from Batumi, there were enhanced security measures to protect the building of the residence of the head of the autonomy of Aslan Abashidze, heavy equipment appeared on Batumi streets. Yesterday, the head of Adjara said that the Georgian authorities are preparing an armed invasion of the republic.
